Family Law, Elder Law, Business Law, and Real Estate Closings

As a small general practice firm, the lawyers at Gonser and Gonser provide personalized advice and representation on a range of legal problems and situations. Among the services we provide are the following:

Family Law. We represent and advise Delaware clients on such matters as divorce, child support, child custody and visitation including Hague Convention actions and grandparent visitation, alimony and/or spousal support, and property division issues in both simple and complex divorce cases. We also prepare prenuptial agreements and represent parents in dependency and neglect proceedings, as well as clients in guardianships of minor children and in protection from abuse proceedings (PFA's). In addition, we are rapidly expanding our adoption practice. We represent clients in all phases of the adoption process in step-parent and agency adoptions, including termination of parental rights, adoption finalization and foreign certifications. We also represent clients in surrogacy arrangements, including preparation of surrogacy agreements. For additional information, visit our Family Law and Divorce section.

Elder Law. We prepare wills, trusts, powers of attorney and advance health care directives that address our clients’ financial and medical treatment interests in the event of incapacity. We represent executors and personal representatives in the probate of wills, preparation of the inventory and accounting, and the distribution of assets to heirs and legatees. We assist clients in guardianship proceedings and with long-term care and special needs planning as well as with Miller Trusts, and Special or Supplemental Needs Trusts, etc.

Business Law. We help our commercial clients with the formation of their companies whether corporations, partnerships, LLCs, or joint ventures. We also serve as Local Counsel and Registered Agent for out of state entities and can advise, negotiate, and draft contracts and agreements to meet the needs of our commercial clients.

Real Estate. We work closely with our clients, their real estate agents and their lenders to handle all aspects of the settlement on their purchase or refinance of residential property, including drafting, reviewing and negotiating purchase and sale agreements and conducting closings.

Civil Commitments (Mental Health). We represent clients in civil commitment proceedings.

Our focus in all of our practice areas is on high quality client service. Our Wilmington, Newark and Dover offices are conveniently located and feature ample free parking. We accept Visa and MasterCard.
